Cleon Peterson

Cleon Peterson’s works are about the American inner city, what he calls the ‘abandoned and forgotten parts where desperation and lawlessness rule and where human kindness doesn’t exist’. The works are grim, powerful, the absolute opposite of the American Dream. And at a time of crisis in the US, with the continuing militarisation of the country’s police forces and the ensuing riots and resistance, these dystopian works serve as a harsh reminder of the lived existence of many.
