Honet’s poetic, mythological map of Paris is oriented through a perpendicular rather than traditional top-down lens. Using the central image of the staircase – an object often used to depict the ascent (or descent) between heaven and hell – Honet takes us on a journey from the deepest part of the city (the Abbesses metro station) to the highest (the Eiffel Tower), from the “nadir to the pinnacle of the capital” as Honet put it.
