The Cult of Rammellzee

The Book of Bitumen is a collection of densely layered lino pieces used in roving performances by The Cult of RAMM:ΣLL:ZΣΣ from 2012-2015. The pages feature transcriptions and mapped paths on top of residue marks made during rituals by cultists ‘breakspraying’, and ‘express-preying’. The video installation also documents the Cult’s performances. Here, however, you can hear how hip-hop phrases are broken down and chanted by the group, adidas becoming the god ‘Zi-Dada’ and Robert Moses — master architect of the Cross Bronx Expressway — the god ‘Mozizizm’.
